This year’s 37th Salon of Architecture will traditionally be held at the Museum of Applied Art from 26th March until 30th April, 2015, and it will be marked by the slogan AfirmAcijA (meaning AffirmAtion) which stresses the importance of the ArchitectArchitectureAction / Affirmation relation. The intention of the Salon organiser is to present, reexamine, review and affirm a complex field of contemporary architecture in its numerous contradictions and aspects, since architecture "creates" and "occupies" space, and it has a long-lasting effect on the citizens’ lifestyle and their relationships, as well as on the image of the city itself.

Every spring for over forty years the Salon of Architecture, as a first-class architectural manifestation, has been bringing together many architects from the country, region and abroad at the Museum galleries. In addition to the main section which exhibits the works, selected out of these received for competition, in several categories (in the form of posters, photographs, models, plans, publications and video material), the accompanying programme of the Salon brings the additional dynamics and topicality. The follow-up programme will include the presentations of a large number of guests from the country and abroad as well as of issues significant for both contemporary architecture and society. Students and other interested visitiors will be given a chance to directly participate in the exhibition, experimental and educational workshops, panel discussions and lectures.

A special place in the follow-up programme of this year’s Salon will be given to the presentation on the performance of the Republic of Serbia at 14th International Architecture Biennale held in Venice in 2014, as well as to the exhibition Crno na belo (Black on White) dedicated to the life and work of a group of contemporary architects (Braca Gaković, Marin Krešić, Zoran Lazović, Branislav Mitrović, Snešana Ristić, Dragan Stamenović, Mihailo Timotijević, Borut Vild and Dragan Živković).

The jury of the 37th Salon of Architecture, consisting of the distinguished national and international experts: Boštjan Bugarič, Milan Đurić, Dejan Milanović, Igor Rajković and Maja Ćirić, will award the Grand Prix and other prizes within the following categories: architecture, urban planning, interior design, publications, experiment and research, guest of the Salon, architectural review and architectural photography. The members of the Council of the 37th Salon of Architecture are also renowned authors and experts in the field of architecture: Aleksandru Vuja, Aleksandar Bobić, Maša Bratuša, Dejan Miletić and Ljiljana Miletić Abramović.

We would like to emphasise that the organisation of the Salon is significantly improved this year by implementing a special software for participants to apply electronically, via the specifically designed website www.salonarhitekture.rs. Besides a more transarent method of application, this technological innovation has also enabled the jury members to better review all the received works, and it made the process of selection easier.

Detailed information regarding the programme of the 37th Salon of Architecture will be available in good time via the website of the Museum of Applied Art, www.mpu.rs.
