Industrial porcelain

Lj. Jovanović, Porcelain factory in Zajecar, 1980

dimensions, 13 x 20 x 27 cm

MAA Inv. No. 18906

The industrial ceramics does not have a long tradition in Serbia. In the second half of the twentieth century the ceramic factories mainly produced bathroom equipment, and rarely utility objects, of poor quality in form and content.

In the early 1970s the porcelain factories in Zajecar and Arandjelovac employed educated designers, among whom Ljubinko Jovanovic had a special place. His inventiveness produced modern and aesthetically designed ceramic objects.
